Arthroscopy

Arthroscopic surgery allows orthopedic surgeons to diagnose joint problems as well as perform state-of-the-art arthroscopic surgical procedures in a way that results in a better experience for the patient.
In the past, traditional open surgery techniques required a large incision to expose a joint, which resulted in lengthy recovery times, increased the risk of infection, and caused pain and bleeding.
Arthroscopic surgery uses a state-of-the-art arthroscope that requires only small incisions. Arthroscopy will ideally result in less post-operative pain and bleeding as well as decrease recovery times.
An arthroscope is a pencil-sized camera that contains a small lens and lighting system. When placed through a small incision and into a joint, the arthroscope enables the orthopedic surgeon to see internal structures. During arthroscopic surgery, the arthroscope and thin surgical instruments are inserted through small incisions (portals). These instruments are used to perform state-of-the-art arthroscopic procedures to correct the joint problems and return the joint to as normal function as possible. Learn more about arthroscopy.
