William M. Hovis, MD, F.A.C.S.More than 25 years experience in work-related injuries and total joint replacement surgery

Dr. William Hovis is one of the area's leading Board-Certified Fellowship-Trained Orthopedic Surgeons with more than 25 years of experience. Dr. Hovis specializes in Arthroscopic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Knee and Shoulder, which frequently enables him to improve patients' joint symptoms and function. He has built his reputation as a "Physician of Choice" for Work-Related Injuries. His other areas of expertise include Total Joint Arthroplasty, Arthritis Joint Surgery, Work-Related Injuries, Sports Medicine, and Athletic Injuries. When other treatment plans have failed, Dr. Hovis is sought out to provide a positive outcome with the best results possible.

Dr. Hovis earned his Medical Degree and graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee in Memphis, TN. He completed a General Surgery Residency at Veterans Administration Hospital, associated with the University of Tennessee in Memphis, TN. He fulfilled an Orthopaedic Surgery Residency and Fellowship at Campbell Clinic and Foundation in Memphis, TN where he developed improvements in surgical techniques of total joint arthroplasty. Dr. Hovis is a United States Air Force Veteran, having served as a Flight Medical Officer and Flight Surgeon in Texas and Vietnam.

Dr. Hovis is a member of the Knoxville Academy of Medicine, Tennessee Medical Association, Knoxville Orthopaedic Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Tennessee Orthopaedic Society, and International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Sports Medicine.

Dr. David Hovis is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon and one of the few Fellowship-Trained Sports Medicine Specialists in East Tennessee. Dr. Hovis specializes in Arthroscopic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Knee and Shoulder, Sports Medicine, and Athletic Injuries. His other clinic focus is Shoulder Injury, Rotator Cuff Repair, Cartilage Restoration, and Total Joint Arthroplasty.

Dr. Hovis earned his Medical Degree with honors from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. He completed a General Surgery Internship at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, TX and an Orthopedic Residency with honors at the University of Texas-Southwestern, also in Dallas, TX. In addition, Dr. Hovis fulfilled a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the prestigious Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, CO, where he served as an Assistant Team Physician for the Denver Broncos Football Team. Dr. Hovis completed a Traveling Fellowship in Shoulder Surgery at the University of Zurich in Zurich, Switzerland.

Dr. Hovis serves as a Team Physician for the United States Alpine Ski Team and works with the Olympic Committee. His research on Sports Medicine and Treatments for Knee and Shoulder Injuries is published in numerous peer-reviewed journals. Known for his knowledge of cutting-edge procedures and products, Dr. Hovis is a sought after international and national presenter.

Dr. Hovis is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine; Arthroscopy Association of North America; International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery, and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine; American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons; Hawkins Shoulder Society; Tennessee Orthopaedic Association; Tennessee Medical Association; and Knoxville Academy of Medicine.
